Vesa becomes the fourth largest shareholder of the American retail chain Macy´s

Vesa Equity Investment S.à.r.l. (Vesa) became the owner of a 5% share in Macy´s. After the purchase of a share in British company Royal Mail, this is another significant foreign acquisition within a short time period. Macy´s is one of the largest retail chains in the United States operating around 900 stores including more than 500 department stores under the Macy´s brand and other trading venues under Bloomingdale´s and Bluemercury brands. In total, the company employs around 130 thousand people.

Vesa is owned by two investors Patrik Tkáč (47%) and Daniel Křetínský (53%) who also exercises control over the company. In September 2019, Vesa became a significant shareholder in Casino Guichard-Perrachon SA, and in May 2020, announced its entry into the British company Royal Mail.
